What services do you believe are most important for the ACT? Health, The environment, Transport, Roads and parking
How can the ACT Government deliver current services more efficiently and productively or to better meet the needs of Canberrans? Not sure how the health system can improve but the waiting times at the Canberra Hospital are too long for emergency cases. A new walk in clinic close by would help for minor injuries. The data bases should be rationalised so that patient records can be accessed easier and more quickly. The environment needs more resources to plant more trees and water the ones that have been planted. Transport Canberra should consult better with the community. It changes roads and footpaths without any consultation and takes no notice of suggestions from the community.
Are there particular services that you think the ACT Government can improve? The government should comply with it's own rules and fine drivers for parking on nature strips. We need to protect the trees better. There should be better consultation with Transport Canberra over programs for footpaths and road works. Planning rules should be complied with. 1. All planning documentation should be easy for the layperson to understand: one-click on the block of interest and all the planning rules for that block should pop-up; 2. All the criteria in the building codes should be made subservient to the rules, which are simplified and made mandatory.
What can the ACT Government do to make Canberra even more liveable?Plans for knock-down rebuild DA-exempt developments should be publicly accessible before demolition is approved and residents should not have to go through an FOI to access these plans. The plot-ratio rule is not working it should replaced by a mandatory planting-area rule to maintain green spaces in residential areas; at present most blocks are covered with concrete or other impervious material over the whole block.
