What services do you believe are most important for the ACT? Access to high quality TAFE and public schools. Access to high quality Health and public hospitals. Access to high quality Government run aged care. Access to affordable, quality public housing throughout the ACT. Electric vehicle infrastructure.
How can the ACT Government deliver current services more efficiently and productively or to better meet the needs of Canberrans? Our rates are too high, our power bills are too high, water is too expensive, petrol is too expensive, public transport is extremely inconvenient, there's not enough parking at important places like the Canberra Hospital or my local shopping centre at Kippax, building regulation needs improvement and policing, ...
Are there particular services that you think the ACT Government can improve?Footpaths and bikepaths are becoming way too busy with bikes, many of which travel too fast for shared paths. When I walk, with or without my dogs, I often have to jump out of the way of speeding cyclists. I understand that people on bikes commuting from home to work don't want to travel slowly and I think the answer is to duplicate the tracks so that pedestrians and cyclists don't have to share. Pedestrian and bike traffic is increasingly incompatible.
What can the ACT Government do to make Canberra even more liveable? There's too much of a focus on civic and the inner city. More needs to be done in the other towns. Belconnen in particular. The infill that is taking place around Canberra is spoiling the place. Rather than allowing more and more high rise/density we should allow the city to spread out more. By sacrificing the bush and parkland areas within the borders of existing suburbs to infill building we are destroying the 'bush capital' appeal of Canberra.
