What services do you believe are most important for the ACT? Active travel needs more focus as well as working toward a safer cycling environment separated form the motor vehicles. More focus needs to be made on affordable housing, and this includes affordable housing for all citizens, not just first home buyers.
How can the ACT Government deliver current services more efficiently and productively or to better meet the needs of Canberrans?I would like to see a light rail stop put in at Mitchell.
Are there particular services that you think the ACT Government can improve? Our hospital and medical services needs improving. Hosuing affordability is a big issue and needs to be looked at so that all Canberrans have the opportunity to enter the property market, not just first home buyers. I would like to see the affordable rental scheme enhanced so that tenants have the ability to put away extra money in a held fund which will accumulate toward a deposit of a property. If we create a pathway that will help people get secure housing, then help them improve their wealth with the view of getting them into their own property if they desire it, it will help a lot of people in Canberra.
What can the ACT Government do to make Canberra even more liveable?Improve active transport options. Close the city centres to traffic and give these areas back to pedestrians and cyclists. Put more money toward building cycle "freeways" that link the major city centres that are direct and separated from cyclists and pedestrians. Both of these solutions will encourage more people to use public transport or active transport options instead of driving. We need to focus on this before Canberra grows to big otherwise we will have major congestion and pollution problems in Canberra. Building bigger roads is not the answer.
