What services do you believe are most important for the Territory? Community outreach services/programs. ACT is a prosperous place, we shouldn't have neglected citizens. Especially focused on the homelessness of middle-age/elderly women - they are the fastest growing demographic of homeless people in Australia.
How can the Government deliver current services more efficiently or in ways that better meet the needs of our community?Generally, more and more people are getting their information through social media or other online formats. Tapping into this could increase awareness of what is available and result in efficient use of services, it's unlikely that many Canberrans could even name more than 3-4 services that ACT govt. provides.
Are there particular services that you think the Government should stop delivering or should deliver in a different way?Buses should be re-envisioned. From personal experience I have never seen a full bus. Is there not a possibility to downsize buses to a smaller 15-20 person size and run them more regularly. Countries like Japan already do this extensively.
What new ideas, services or programs should the Government consider to meet emerging or evolving community needs? Community development programs are a necessity. Something similar to the Mingle program coming out of SLA. Canberra has this connotation of being very insular and private when the reality is, if you talk to people, they want to know their neighbours and the community. Even something as simple as providing a website in which people can nominate their suburb and from there upload pictures, events, stories etc. Like creating a Facebook group for a suburb but actually have it promoted through and by the government. From this people from their relevant community could moderate these sites, leaving the only operating costs being server and website running.
